The Kinross-shire Repair Café opened in April of 2024. It originated in the wish of the organisers to keep things out of landfill by repairing them or give them a new life. We are open every second Saturday of each month at Loch Leven Campus between 10 am and 12 pm.

Sometimes an item can get a whole new lease of life with some glue, some soldering or some stitching – and we can do that for you. You only pay for the materials, but donations are gratefully accepted to keep us going. When something is beyond repair, we can advise you how to get rid of it in an environmentally responsible way.

A community of volunteers
giving new life to old things.

All the Repairers are volunteers with a special skill. You can bring your item (lamp, toaster, skirt, bike, picture, musical instrument jumper or whatever) to the Café. See and learn how a repair is made – and maybe the next time you can do it yourself. We aim not to take business away from professionals.

The Café is a drop-in event. We don’t do house visits or take things home to repair. Check our Events page (link here) for dates, venue and which Repairers are attending. Get in touch (contact email below) if you have any special requests.

Learning from experts

We have regular demonstrations of mending techniques. Past demonstrations included pottery repair, bike maintenance, how to look after string instruments and sharpening kitchen tools.
